During occupation, Ivan Hupka was an active journalist of the Bratislava studio of the Czechoslovak television. However, hopelessness, fear about the future, the inability to act upon his ideas and the lack of freedom led, in the end, to a decision to leave Slovakia and settle in distant Australia.
