Ján Minárik was born on 28th June 1927 in Dvorianky, Sečovce county. In 1949 he started to work in the Merciful Brothers hospital. Here is where he met a certain student named Stanislav, who was a member of an anti-communist organization. Ján Minárik and Jozef Eštok founded a branch in Slovakia and decided to escape to Austria. Eštok was caught during the escape, but Minárik got to Vienna, where the „Slovak National Council Abroad“ and the leader of the organization „White Legion“ Jozef Vicen took him in. He was in Vienna for 5 weeks, during which Vicen taught him Morse code and the basis of radiotelegraphy. He got instructions from Vicen about how to proceed in Slovakia and gain more people who would be sent abroad and schooled in radiotelegraphy and other departments. After returning home, Minárik organized approximately 200 people, who joined the anti-communist resistance in the „White Legion“.
